Annual GIPS Notification Renewal Due June 30, 2021

Firms and asset owners claiming compliance with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®) are required to notify CFA Institute of their claim of compliance annually by June 30. The required information is minimal, including:

  • Primary and secondary contact details.
  • Firm or asset owner name and location.
  • Whether the organization is a subsidiary of a larger parent company.
  • Whether the firm or asset owner has been verified within the past 24 months.

There are additional, optional questions that, if answered, must be current as of the most recent calendar year end. Only the name of the firm or asset owner and a link to the website, if provided, are made public by CFA Institute. Firms and asset owners may choose not to have their names listed on the website.

Firms and asset owners claiming compliance for the first time must submit the GIPS Compliance Notification Form prior to publicly claiming compliance.

The annual notification can be completed any time after January 1 and the timing of your annual verification should not impact the submission of your notification by June 30. Remember to add a policy to your GIPS Policies and Procedures manual regarding the annual CFA Institute notification. This should include who in your organization does the annual filing, when the form is submitted, and documentation of any optional information included.

FPS is available to answer questions about this, and other, CFA Institute requirements. Contact us today with any inquiries.
